Dance Dialogues

Texas Ballet Theater invites you to an evening built on a simple idea: the more you understand what goes into a ballet, the more deeply you experience it. Ahead of each mainstage production, our Artistic Director and a special guest close to the work guide an intimate conversation accompanied by live excerpts from the ballet, often while it is still taking shape. It is a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the artistry behind every production.

How does a costume go from sketch to stage? What role does a pas de deux play in a full-length ballet? How does a score become a scene? Dance Dialogues explores questions like these directly with the artists shaping the work. Part masterclass, part rehearsal, it offers a deeper connection to each production before opening night.

Six Dance Dialogues evenings are presented each season, with three in our brand-new Dance Lab in Fort Worth and three in our intimate Preston Center Studio in Dallas.

Dance Dialogues: A Conversation with Kenneth Tindall

Texas Ballet Theater opens its first Dance Dialogues of the season with an intimate evening in the Dance Lab dedicated to Casanova, the opulent full-length ballet by award-winning choreographer Kenneth Tindall. Join us as Tindall sits down with TBT Artistic Director Tim O’Keefe to discuss how he brought the story of Casanova to life in this ballet based on Ian Kelly’s acclaimed biography of the same name, followed by a live showing of excerpts performed by TBT dancers.

Dance Dialogues: Behind the Seams of Tutu Chic

Texas Ballet Theater opens its first Dallas edition of Dance Dialogues with an intimate evening at our Preston Center Studio dedicated to Tutu Chic, our annual fashion show where ballet and design merge on stage. Dance Dialogues: A Conversation With Silas Farley

Artistic Director Tim O’Keefe is joined by a special guest to celebrate the artistry of Ben Stevenson, OBE, TBT’s longest serving Artistic Director and the choreographer behind the beloved classic that is Coppélia. The conversation will explore Stevenson’s legacy and the role of pas de deux in his ballets, followed by a live showcase of pas de deux excerpts from Coppélia, with the possibility of additional excerpts from across his body of work.
