Betsy McBride, originally from Coppell, TX, began training at Ballet Academy of Texas. At age 14 she attended Texas Ballet Theater’s School and performed with the Company in Coppelia and as “Clara” in The Nutcracker, after her performance as “Clara” she was invited to join the Company. Ms. McBride was an American Ballet Theatre National Training Scholar, and performed as one of four girls in George Balanchine’s Mozartiana during ABT’s tour of Texas. In 2007 Betsy was awarded the “Grand Prix” at the Youth American Grand Prix Regional competition and also a finalist at the 2012 Helsinki International Ballet Competition. Some of her favorite roles are “Aurora” in Ben Stevenson’s The Sleeping Beauty, “Cinderella” in Cinderella, “Svetlana” in Ben Stevenson’s Dracula, as well as “Sugar Plum Fairy,” “Snow Queen” and “Lead Flower” in The Nutcracker. This is Ms. McBride’s sixth season with Texas Ballet Theater.
