Angela Kenny is originally from Aubrey, Texas, and studied at Texas Ballet Theater School Dallas, Tuzer Dance center, JKO School of American Ballet Theatre in NY, and the Royal Ballet Upper School in London on full scholarship. During her time with the Royal Ballet School she was asked to perform for Her Majesty the Queen, Prince Charles and other British dignitaries. She also received the Ursula Moreton and the Lynn Seymour awards for choreography, won the 2004 Youth Grand Prix at the Youth America Grand Prix Semifinals, and the silver medal at the NYC Finals. In 2007, she was a NFAA Young ARTS Winner. Ms. Kenny has danced favorite roles as Anitra and Mad Woman in Peer Gynt, Bluebird in The Sleeping Beauty, and Snow Queen and Arabian in The Nutcracker, all choreographed by Ben Stevenson. She has also performed in Val Caniparoli’s Lambarena, Glen Tetley’s Voluntaries and George Balanchine’s Theme and Variations. This is her eigth season with Texas Ballet Theater.

I originally grew up in Aubrey, TX.
When did you begin dancing?
At the age of six.
Why did you begin dancing?
I began dancing because I’m told I showed an untrained, natural talent.
When did you join Texas Ballet Theater?
I joined TBT in 2008.
What is your favorite ballet to see?
It is difficult to pick only one so I’ll name a few: Chroma by Wayne McGregor, Romeo and Juliet by Ben Stevenson and Concerto by Kenneth MacMillan
What is your favorite ballet to perform/what is your favorite role you have performed?
Birthday Offering by Frederick Ashton. It was an honor to perform this piece as a student of the Royal Ballet School at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.
What surprised you the most about being a professional dancer?
The percentage of training and rehearsal time in relation to actual performance time.
What is your most memorable vacation?
A few summers ago when I took a solo trip around England, Germany, Spain and France.
